You Inspire Me Dad…

The Mission Dad - You inspire me DadIn 2001 there were back to back tragic events that would cause my life to change all together. The attack on our homeland meant our security would establish levels never before experienced, and the images of that day will remain forever in all of our minds. Like every US citizen, I felt violated and knew that certain things were going to change in our country forever. Our sense of security will be challenged now like never before.

On a personal level, two days later another challenge would also begin for me. My best man in life would say goodbye for the final time. He was my mentor, model, friend, and my inspiration…he was my dad.

In no way would I ever suggest that his passing remotely compares to what had just occurred two days prior, but for me and my family his passing hurt very deeply. Through all the tears and knowing that his voice will be something of distant memory, his words will continue to inspire me forever. He instilled a drive and desire in me to want to model his ways in my own life. The desire to make a difference in those I love, and to those I don’t even know. It involves a purpose much greater than any career, award, or monetary achievement on display for others to see. The will to want to inspire regardless of race, background, nationality, history, or anywhere that person may currently be. This is about HOPE and the willingness to encourage those who may lack it. Whether you have had a dad like mine, or one who was not present, always continue to search for models that inspire you.  My dad inspired me and then passed me the baton, and now I must do the same for my own.

So therefore I ask, who inspires you, and will your baton be passed onto an aspiring hand?

Great post and wonderful message. You are a blessed man for having such a great father. Keep the torch burning with your two boys and the world will be a better place.

Your life is an example of inspiring others. My life and the lives of my two grandchildren, Allison and Hunter Morton have been blessed because of the time spent at tennis lessons at HCC. You have been a friend, an encourager, mentor and have loved them like a father would. We will never forget you and the roll you have played in their lives. It was not about the quantity of time but the QUALITY. People are drawn to you because you reflect God’s love and treat others with kindness and respect. Your parents did a wonderful job of raising you and I know you are the light of their lives on earth or heaven! Keep passing the legacy on! Blessings to you and your family!
